Clark County Success Story for NEP
Sandy Kennedy
We developed Meal Hacks & More at the Library when the director wanted to offer something on educating their participants on Living Healthier Lives through Nutrition. Speaking with the Clark County Extension Program Assistant, we offered the Healthy Choices for Every Body Program.
The assistant taught a series on Food Safety, Portion Control, Eating on a Budget, Proper Storage, Better Beverages and Using Your Crock Pot.
There were fourteen families who put into practice from the materials given at the end of each session with recipes, substitutes and newsletters for better health.
Six third and fourth graders, with several who had disabilities, were taught knife safety by chopping fruits and vegetables for our recipes.
At the end of each session the students received a kitchen tool pertaining to the class to take home.
