Plan of Work: 4-H Youth Development - Youth Agriculture Education
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
National Agriculture Week is celebrated in March to recognize the contributions of farmers, ranchers and agricultural workers. The week aims to increase public awareness of agriculture's role in providing food, fiber and fuel. In Campbell County the majority of our youth are getting more urbanized and removed from the farm and farming. A new, fun "Together We Grow Youth Art Contest" was started this year. This statewide contest was a wonderful opportunity for young artists to showcase their creativity while learning about the importance of agriculture and what agricultural commodities are and which ones are the most common in their counties. Campbell County had 32 youth enter their designs in this contest. Participants commented that they now know that hay and cows are the most common ag commodity grown in our county. Now each county will submit their winning entry to state and they will be featured on a special map of Kentucky during the 2025 Kentucky State Fair.
