Southern Ag Today Overall Viewership Award
Author: Grant Gardner
Planning Unit: Agr Economics
Major Program: Farm Management, Economics and Policy
Outcome: Initial Outcome
This year, I collaborated with Will Maples at Mississippi State University to write the article “Using Historical Price Movements to Inform Marketing Decisions.” This article was the most-read article for the entire year on “Southern Ag Today,” a consortium of Southern Extension Programs that posts a daily article on agricultural economics for the public. In total, the article was viewed by over 6,000 people. Conservatively estimating the impact: if 50% of the readers captured a selling price of $0.10 higher on one sale (5000 bushels), total farm income would increase by $1.5 million. The article earned me the “Most Overall Viewership Award” from Southern Ag Today.
