Field Crop Scouting Clinic Lead by Kentucky Agriculture Training School

The Kentucky Agriculture Training School this in person event on May 20, 2021. Extension specialists offered trainings on a diversity of topics. In this opportunity the training was directed to help the clientele in scouting techniques for field crops pests or recognize growth stages of corn and soybeans as well as the ID of weed. Presenters included in this event were Drs. E. Ritchey and J. Grove (Soil, nutrients, and crop growth), C. Knott (Soybean growth staging), C. Lee (Corn growth staging), K. Wiese and C. Bradley (Scouting for corn and soybean diseases in 2019), R. Villanueva (Early and Mid-Season Scouting for Insect Pests of Corn and Soybean) and T. Legleiter (Weed ID). This hands-on event was conducted in person but still with COVID-19 restrictions. The goal of the event was to help educate the clientele to make more informed decisions regarding crop management and production.
There was a total of 17 attendees and in all presentations, and 86% of them qualified the event as extremely to very beneficial event. Participants commented in the great quality of the event, the future participation on the event
