Everyone is exposed to some type of indoor air pollution at some point in time in their lives.  According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, research indicates that people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors resulting in, for many people, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoor than outdoors.

To bring light to this need for indoor air quality education, the Logan County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent taught the Clean and Healthy Homes program to Extension Homemakers in the Mammoth Cave Area.  Participants learned about types of indoor air pollution, causes, and how to prevent indoor air pollution.  They were also shown common household look alike products.

Based on responses from a post program evaluation the following was indicated:

93% more knowledgeable about various types of indoor air pollution

98% were able to identify common household look alike products

100% were able to identify ways to keep homes clean and healthy

42% learned something about household look alike products that they did not know
