With the growing population in Warren County, members of the Warren County Extension District Board identified the need to save money and make plans to build a new and improved Warren County Extension Office in the future. In the spring of 2018, the District Board voted to move forward with the building venture and approved the $3.2 million dollar budget to begin construction on the new Warren County Extension Service.
Warren County Extension Agents worked together diligently to take certain tasks of the building project, while still covering their regular job responsibilities. The horticulture extension agent worked on the interior design of the building which included paint color selection, flooring options, and furnishings. She also worked closely with the landscape architect, Bowling Green City planning and zoning, and the landscape installer to design the best commercial landscape for outside. In addition, she assisted the lead agent on the Capital Campaign Committee to bring in funds for the new building.
After moving into the new office at the end of February and opening to the public at the first of March, the Warren County Cooperative Extension Service has increased the capabilities for numerous opportunities.
By having a new and improved Warren County Extension Office, it is evident that the doors will continue to welcome new people and expose them to the many services offered through the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service.
