Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
The Crittenden County Extension Service partners with the agencies in Crittenden County to serve the needs of the people in Crittenden County. Once a year everyone comes together to do a Community Christmas program. This program helps the limited resource people in our community provide for their children’s needs at Christmas. In order for the families to qualify for this program they must take three education classes given by different agencies in the county. The Expanded Food Nutrition Education Senior Program Assistant partners with several of the agencies to do food and nutrition programs for the families.
One of the classes presented by the Expanded Food Nutrition Education Senior Program Assistant was on food budgeting. The class discussed the lesson and the Assistant asked if anyone was doing any of the suggestions in the lessons. Two ladies said that they had been buying milk when it was on sale and freezing it. Two other ladies said that they were going to start canning and freezing vegetables, which they learned to do in the UK Extension Food Preservation Workshop they had taken during the summer. Others said that they were couponing to save money. Everyone agreed that they had learned to do this from the Food Budgeting Classes and the Food Preservation Workshop.
