KYNEP and the UK Horticulture Department co-create the publication series Growing your own (GYO). We have published 1, 12-month garden calendar, 19 publications and 6 Spanish translations. During the 2025 Fiscal Year, these resources were downloaded 1,383 times from PlanEatMove.com, with the Garden Calendar being the resource with the highest total downloads on the entire website. This series is written at a 6th grade reading level and geared towards the low literacy audience. We use pictures, a glossary, larger front, multiple colors and a consistent layout to make the series user friendly to make gardening accessibly to as many as we can. The publications are used by home gardeners, as well as community and school gardeners.
