Record-Breaking Success: Barren County 4-H Camp Doubles Impact in One Program Year
Author: Paula Tarry
Planning Unit: Barren County CES
Major Program: Camping
Plan of Work: 4-H and Youth Development
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Barren County 4-H Camp experienced a historic milestone this program year by offering two separate camps—and both exceeded expectations!
Barren County 4-H coordinated two full summer camps under one program year, dramatically increasing youth engagement and leadership development opportunities. The result? A record-breaking 104 youth, teens and adults attended the first session—the largest attendance in Barren County 4-H Camp history—followed by 100 youth, teens and adults at the second session. Approximately 35% of the campers attended both sessions.
From archery and canoeing to leadership workshops and team competitions, youth left camp with new friendships, valuable life skills, and a deepened connection to 4-H program.
This success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, teen leaders and community supporters. With 204 campers served across both sessions, Barren County 4-H is proud of the strides that many of the campers made in their independence and decision making skills.
