South Dakota Cattlemen's Trip
Author: Beau Neal
Planning Unit: Woodford County CES
Major Program: Beef
Plan of Work: Sustainable Agriculture
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Trip was planned for the Regional Cattleman's Association, including Woodford County producers, to tour cattle operations in South Dakota. 25 participants flew to Sioux Falls, SD for three days. Stops and Educational tours included MidCon Commodoties, Mohnen Angus Operation, Fulton Ranch, South Dakota State University Beef Research Facility, and others.
These operations allowed our local producers to gain new and different perspectives on cattle farming and learn new management techniques and marketing opportunities that may be well suited for Kentucky producers as well.
