Describe the Issue or Situation. The top two priorities listed in the Hardin County assessment survey were "sustainability of family farms" and "preserving/managing agricultural land". 

Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response (and Partners, if applicable). Promotion of the program was shared mostly through newspaper articles and social media. Flyers were put up at local farm stores in various parts of the county. Information about the program was also shared both orally and with flyers, in front of 400 people, mostly families, who were eating together at the Hardin County Fair farm to table program. The meal for the PLAN program was sponsored by Hardin County Farm Bureau and we featured speakers from both industry and extension. FAmily and Consumer Sciences agent Dayna Fentress, and ANR agents Ashley Norton and Daniel Carpenter collaborated to put on this series. 

Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience.

Our target audience for this program is farm families and land owners, but it also had beneficial information for anyone with assets or belongings that they would like to pass down to their heirs or others. 

Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact. Please note that the outcomes statement must use evaluation data to describe the change(s) that occurred in individuals, groups, families, businesses, or in the community because of the program/outreach. 60% of participants did not have any type of plan for their assets before attending the meeting. Of those, 80% reported feeling at least somewhat comfortable moving forward and implementing a plan for their assets. One attendee reported that she did not own a farm but had a personal experience with issues from her parents not having a plan for assets after death. She was grateful to learn ways that she could do better for the handling of her assets for for her kids. Survey responses revealed other topics that participants would like to know more about and our office plans to continue to offer this series in the future and maybe become an annual program to help keep the conversation out there.
