The Lawrence County Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) Senior Assistant taught the LEAP program with Kindergarten, 1^st, and 2^nd grade students at Louisa East and Louisa West Elementary Schools. LEAP program is designed to help children learn healthy behaviors at a young age. The SNAP-Ed assistant was able to read a story and provide a healthy snack related to the storybook to each child. All the students enjoyed the story books and were able to test on the books for accelerated reader points. 

There was a total of 108 students that participated. Each student was given a pre and post evaluation. The results showed that 83% improved knowledge related to handling food safely and 86% improved on diet quality.
