The new Taylor County 4-H Goat Club is less then a year old but is making a big impact. Youth and their families are working hard to learn about the care, management, and showing of their animals, all while creating a community of knowledge.

One event that has helped to get the word out about the new Taylor County 4-H Goat Club was by participating in the community’s annual 4th of July Parade. The club decided to create and present a float in this year’s parade. The youth was able to design and created poster for the float, many showcasing what it means to be a part of 4-H and what 4-H means to them. They helped to decorate the float and the morning of the parade shared their excitement with all who came to see the parade. Their hard work on the float helped them to win 2nd place out of all the floats in attendance and win $300 for their club. Their enthusiasm and spotlight in the parade has already brought in two new families to join and participate in the Goat Club. Both new to 4-H and new to cooperative extension as well.
