Major Program: Agriculture 4-H Core Curriculum

Plan of Work: Youth & Adult Leadership Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Over that last couple of months, the Rowan County 4-H program has seen a significant interest in youth livestock programming. One of the indications has been the number of cross county line forms that’s been signed for youth to participate in a surrounding county’s 4-H livestock program due to the program not being offered in Rowan County.

Rowan County Extension is currently accepting applications for the “YAIP” Youth in Agriculture Incentive Program” for any 4-H age youth. From the possibilities of this program, it has allowed for Rowan County 4-H to start their own 4-H livestock program. The 4-H agent has identified and recruited a livestock leader that will go through the mandatory certification program in the fall.
