A seven week program on Healthy Choices was offered in Rockcastle County, Kentucky at the local Extension Office to middle aged adults. A lesson on MyPlate was taught with a focus on dairy and the nutritional value in all types of milk. The goal was to help participants recognize healthy choices consistent with MyPlate as well as observe the difference between whole milk and fat free milk.
Ten adults completed the series and were able to differentiate which dairy products had less fat. Participants reported a 50% positive change in dairy consumption at the post evaluation. 3 participants immediately switched to 1% milk.
