Outcome: Initial Outcome
On January 10th, 2022 the Rockcastle County Extension office partnered with the Rockcastle County Conservation district and USDA FSA office to hold a CAIP cost share informational meeting. The meeting was held to help producers complete applications, update and complete ag water quality plans, answer questions about farm serial numbers and inform producers on rules and opportunities for investment areas.
In two separate meetings, held at 1pm and 6pm, 97 producers attended the meeting. Of these 97 all completed applications for cost share funds. Forty five producers either updated their current ag water quality plans or developed a new plan where one was needed. The extension service had 14 new newsletter subscribers. The USDA FSA representative provided all farm serial numbers for producer for their application as well. All producers had opportunities to discuss investment areas and determine what was the correct investment area per the individual applicant
At this meeting producers were also informed of the new laws on sales tax exemption for farm supply purchases. 23 of the attendees received help completing and submitting the application for their exemption number.
As this program progresses the Extension Service, Conservation District and FSA office will continue to collaborate and provide assistance and guidance for this cost share program for the producers in Rockcastle County.
