Situation:

The Youth in our community are becoming less involved with outdoor activities and more involved with video games, social media programs and coding. Although science and technology are of a huge importance in our youth's culture. It is still vitally important that we encourage proper health and wellness management.  

Long-Term Outcomes:

Long term, 4-H participants will be productive in health and wellness management. While participating in community runs/walks, farmers markets and health and wellness programs. They will become active volunteers and carry leaderships roles within 4-H and our community.

Intermediate Outcomes:

-Implementing health and wellness clubs

-4-H youth assume leadership roles in clubs.

-4-H youth receive recognition from 4-H Honors Program.

-Volunteers teach 4-H project subject matter.

-Volunteers are recruiting new volunteers.

-4-H youth help market the 4-H program.

-Volunteers will take on leadership roles outside their clubs.

Initial Outcomes:

-Apply physical activity to their daily routine.

-Access more local food sources. 

-Plant, harvest and preserve their own produce from home gardens.

-Apply improved food preparation skills, food management skills, food safety and healthy eating habits

Evaluation:

Initial Outcome: Change in awareness, knowledge, opinions, skills, and attitudes needed to make informed choices regarding healthy lifestyle choices

Indicator: Number of individuals who experience a change in knowledge, opinions, skills, or aspirations regarding the safe storage, handling, or preparation of food (safe preservation techniques, hand washing, following time and temperature guidelines).

Method: One on One Communication

Babysitting Day Camp- Summer 2022

In Fall of 2021, many members of the Calloway County 4-H Council expressed an interest in 4-H providing babysitting curriculum to the youth of our county during a program brainstorming activity. The Council thought it would be especially relevant during summer when older youth are out of school and could help provide child care for younger youth, especially siblings. So, in July of 2022 Calloway 4-H offered a two day Babysitting Day Camp where youth ages 10-16 attended to complete 4-H Babysittin
