When the University of Kentucky Extension Service re-opened its Edmonson County office in 1992, the Fiscal Court provided a budget of $22,000 and asecretary, with two Agent positions. When the current Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources/4-H Youth Development started in 2005, the County Extension Service had a budget of just under $50,000, still provided by Edmonson County Fiscal Court and housed in the basement of the County Health Department. One of the roles of the Gallatin County Extension Family & Consumer Sciences Agent (FCS) is performing the role of the Advisor to the Gallatin County Homemakers. As the Advisor, the FCS Agent works in tandem with the Homemakers on various community classes, programs and community events focusing on leadership development and engagement.
