I became the UK representative to the Kentuckiana Certified Crop Advisors (CCA) Conference in 2011. This program is a joint effort between the University of Kentucky and Purdue University This joint effort is approaching a 30-year anniversary. This longstanding program provides current information for crop production common to Kentucky and Indiana agriculture. Approximately 200 CCA’s attend this conference annually from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Missouri. Many of the participants return to the conference each year. I am responsible for contacting and confirming half of the speakers each year, based on previous survey results, current topics, or abnormal growing conditions of concern. This program is self-sustaining due to registration costs and provides 15-16 hours of continuing education for CCA’s. I hear many comments from attendees that this is one of their favorite meetings of the year, they can get a lot of CEU at a very affordable price, and the information presented is timely and useful for their clientele. The 2020 Kentuckiana CCA Conference was virtual due to COVID 19. Our attendance was steady, but it included participants from 15 states and 3 Canadian providences. We have speakers and topics for the 2021 meeting and plan to return to an in-person event.
