Making the best of a tough situation was our answer for reaching clientele during Covid. Due to meeting restrictions we utilized virtual means for the following classes. " Selecting the Best Vegetable Varieties" class was well attended due to families looking for activities in the safety of their homes. Vegetable Gardening was extremely popular due to peoples fear of food insecurity. Our goal is to continue contact with this group and make them lifetime gardeners. 2 tree planting classes were held and 15 families reported purchasing a tree at a local nursery and planting at home.
Other classes held : Tree and shrub Care, Plant Propagation, and a tree seedling giveaway. For this event we maintained social distancing and placed seedlings and care instructions in participants vehicles as they waited in their car.
Site visits were increased during the pandemic with restrictions. The agent would visit the site and analyze problems without out any contact with client. Agent would then report back to client with phone calls e-mails and thoroughly explain diagnosis and recommendations. 67 residential and 32 farm visits were conducted in this manner.
