Every winter producers attend numerous in-person meetings held by extension on various row crop related topics, but due to Covid-19 these in-person meeting were not held.  The Fulton County and Carlisle County Ag Agents developed a 5 part series to provide information to the producers in their area an opportunity to receive these updates, interact with the Specialist, and maintain social distancing, all from the comfort of their living room or office.

The agents scheduled 5 Monday evening sessions beginning Feb 8th at 6:30 pm.  Each session would cover a single topics for about an hour including a question/answer session with the specialist.  The topics included Grain Marketing/Profitability & ARC/PLC Decisions for 2021, Profitability thru Machinery Management, Weed Control/Dicamba Updates, Foliar Fungicides, and Precision Phosphorus Management.  Most sessions were recorded and available for producers to review the meeting via YouTube.

The meetings were conducted with minimal issues, other than the usual first-time user issues.  In total 25 individual registered for the series, although some individuals may have had additional views present for the session.  The agents made attempts to collect attendance information some views were not familiar with zoom had issues with chat and mute functions as video was not used to minimize bandwidth issues.  Participates were engaged with the specialist and had discussions during the question and answer portion of the sessions.  It was expressed that in-person meeting were preferred, but they would like the option to view the meeting online if they could not be present in-person.
