Calloway County has 39,135 residents, of which 2.7% are Hispanics. The Nutrition Education Program Assistant made 6 new adult connections this year and due to Covid-19, one participant completed the program and others will continue with lessons for the upcoming year. On average the Spanish program “Viva Saludable” sees 4 participants complete the lessons each year. The NEP assistant was able to provide several resources in Spanish like lesson handouts, nutritional magazines, tip sheets, recipe cards and awareness to the www.facebook.com/CallowayNEP/ program Facebook page with bilingual nutritional education postings, as well of awareness of the www.planeatmove.com website which provides several recipes in Spanish. The assistant translated a nutritional education article for promotion of available programs in Western Kentucky region. Therefore, bringing exposure of the Nutrition Education Program as a way to connect services and programs to an underrepresented population.
