County Clean-Up
Author: Heather Graham
Planning Unit: Wolfe County CES
Major Program: Water and Soil Quality and Conservation
Plan of Work: Community Advancement
Outcome: Initial Outcome
Wolfe County, like many counties, has seen its share of drug "issues." To celebrate those that have made it to recovery, the Wolfe County Extension Office partnered with Wolfe Countians Against Drugs to hold a Recovery Week. Part of the Recovery Week was to hold a community wide clean-up, people could celebrate being clean while cleaning up the county. Of course, those in recovery were not the only ones that participated. Family members and community supporters also participated. Because of COVID, we were not able to pick one area to clean-up. Rather, participants came to the Extension Office to pick up their clean-up kit (trash grabber, gloves, and trashbags) and were able to clean-up their area/road of choice. Over 12 families participated, picking up 15+ bags (55 gallon bags!) of trash from our community.
Participants were actively engaged in the beautification of their community while also getting outside and enjoying the fresh air and getting some physical activity!
