Woodland Stewards Webinair
We offered in the county the Woodland Stewards Webinair in 2020. We were apprehensive as we offered a similar class last year and each night that it was planned this year there were competing meetings in the other building. We had a great turn out with about 50% of the crowd attending 75% of the classes. Each night we had a different group of participants. There were landowners that had a range of 15 to 400 acres of forested areas out of the 58 in attendance for the entire series of meetings. Over 50% turning in evaluation said they had increased their knowledge of each meeting. One hundred percent said that the training was easy to understand, and the majority said they would recommend the course to someone else. Breckinridge County is 20% forested land, we had 500 acres represented, we will offer more Woodland Owners short courses like this in the future. After speaking with NRCS, over 75% of their applicants for assistance on developing a forestry plan had attended at least 1 of the meetings.
