Teen Club receives a face lift

Planning Unit: Christian County CES
Major Program: 4-H Leadership Core Curriculum
Plan of Work: Foster individual and family stability, resiliency and fincial well-being across the life span.
Outcome: Initial Outcome
Youth are more likely to be productive citizens in their communities by getting involved in activities outside of school. This year our county 4-H teen club went through a rebuilding process and now allows middle and high school youth in Christian County to participate. The club focuses on leadership, team building, career exploration and civic engagement. Teens identified needs in the community and have developed plans to combat those needs. Through a rebranding in our teen club, we have increased participation in other areas of 4-H. We had youth participate in an area Teen Leadership Ski Retreat, Pennyrile Area Teen meeting and State Issues Conference. Going into 2020 we have had 1 youth elected to serve as the President of the Pennyrile Area 4-H Teen Council and a District 7 Representative on the Kentucky 4-H State Teen Council, as well as a youth elected to serve on the Kentucky 4-H Fashion Leadership Board. Through the revitalized teen club, youth are now more empowered to set goals and make decisions, aligning them perfectly with state leadership roles.
