Truth and Consequences, the Choice is Yours Event was held on October 6 at the National Guard Armory in Monticello, KY with freshmen students at Wayne County High School and Otter Creek Girls Academy 

Students were divided into 4 groups and rotated between stations focusing on the dangers of drugs and alcohol and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices, 

Four mini stations were held in one combined session which focused on the on the dangers of Distracted Driving. 

Students also rotated in the Truth and Consequences, the Choice is Yours session where they were given a scenario related to drug and alcohol consequences. Community partners and volunteers were set up around the drill hall and interacted with students and their parents/mock parents as they would if the situation were real. Students were handcuffed, went before the judge, and saw the coroner as specified with their situation and consequence. Students also rotated to hear from Probation and Parole tam member as they shared real life consequences to a variety of situations. 

Students traveled to the Park for a picnic style sack lunch from the school cafeteria. Students completed the Truth and Consequences, The Choice is Yours evaluations while at lunch. They then walked to the outdoor arena to watch the mock accident and listen to the guest speaker. Emergency personnel, volunteers, and 4-H Ambassadors acted in the mock accident as if it were a real situation. The PHI air medical helicopter flew into the park, landed, and took off after "loading" their patient. The event was very powerful for all involved from students, volunteers, parents, family members, and emergency personnel. The guest speaker talked about his own personal experience as he came upon a drunk driving accident as a truck driver and the impact that it had on his life and the families involved. 

Before loading the buses, students received t-shirts donated by KYASAP to help promote the program in the community. Adanta RPC donated the money to pay for the guest speaker, PHI Air Medical donated their fuel and services to fly the helicopter into the park for the event. A total of 175 volunteers and 35 parents/grandparents participated with 256 students. The evaluations are being analyzed at the University of Kentucky.
