Planning Unit: Campbell County CES

Major Program: 4-H Youth Development Programming

Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work

Outcome: Initial Outcome

On March 16, 2020 the University of Kentucky Campbell County Extension Service began a transition to remote programming as closures from the Coronavirus pandemic loomed. Ways to continue programming to youth in the county resulted in Grab & Go project bags being offered. Utilizing existing supplies for day camps that were cancelled and supplies in storage, thirteen different topics of Grab & Go bags were compiled and set out for pick up by interested families. Included in each bag was: Youth Health Bulletin, Wally Cat Hand washing flier, and Social Media enclosure.  Over the span of 2 months, 589 bags were picked up. Parents were very appreciative of the bags, stating that during this time, their children had something to do that was hands on instead of technology driven. Many parents sent in pictures of their child with a completed project that was then posted on the county’s Facebook page. Non-persishable food items were requested from those picking up bags, these donations were given to a local Family Resource Center to use for families in need.
