Major Program: Community Leadership Development

Plan of Work: Community and Leadership Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Celebrating our fifth annual Community Celebration Program during the COVID-19 pandemic brought a few challenges. Though, Campbell County Extension volunteers and staff realizes the impact and importance of marketing our programs and outreach resources we have to provide throughout the County that even during this nationwide pandemic, we came together stronger as a team to brainstorm ways that we can continue this highly attended program. In the past, our Community Celebration Program took place on a Saturday and involves every program area here in Campbell County and also includes many of our county collaborators. During the program there are many hands-on activities for the whole family to participate including cooking demonstrations, planting activities and giveaways. Following University administrative guidelines, it made it impossible to continue the traditional delivery method of this annual program. We reached out to local Campbell Media to collaborate with us once again to film, edit, and broadcast our program throughout the County. As a result, we had reached over 1100 viewers. Extension programs such as:  youth yoga, cooking demonstrations and recipes, SNAP-ED cooking resources, farmers markets updates and market programs, and youth 4-H ham project speech.

As we continue as a county and state, we will continue to provide research-based information and resources. Most of our programs may not be face to face, but we strive to get the information into the hands of individuals and families as quickly and safely as possible.

With the support of our board members, council members and Extension program volunteers and leaders, we continue to collaborate with agencies state wide to continue to implement Extension resources into program planning. Times are different, but new opportunities have been given to Extension to continue being a resource throughout all 120 Kentucky counties.
