Planning Unit: Fayette County CES

Major Program: 4-H Leadership Core Curriculum

Plan of Work: Leadership and Volunteer Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Woodford County 4-H is in prime position to provide leadership development opportunities for high school youth in the community. As the community seeks more opportunities to develop youth into career and college ready, opportunities to meet, lead, plan and serve help prepare youth for their next steps. In response, Woodford County 4-H created the 4-H Teen Leadership Council for current 8th grade students through 12th grade students. The council met monthly and not only participated in leadership activities but also created their own bylaws and participated in several service projects for community organizations. The council also met with CEDIK to discuss their downtown with hopes to partner more in the future on downtown initiatives. By providing this opportunity, youth were able to grow into leadership roles while taking a more active role in developing their club and giving back to their community.
