Plan of Work: Basic Life Skill Education

Outcome: Initial Outcome

This year was a continuation of the revitalization to the 4-H summer camping program in Nicholas County. Today the program is a strong and vibrant example of what a summer camping program in a rural county can be and what positive effects it can have on the youth and adults who choose to participate in it. The Camping program is well supported by the community, partnering organizations, parents, and the school system. The county had taken just 26 youth and adults to camp nine years ago in 2010. In the following years, the camping program has grown tremendously and we are so proud of where we are today. For the week of July 8th – 11th, Nicholas County had a grand total of 127 campers, adult volunteers and agents. This is the largest number Nicholas County has ever taken to 4-H Camp. This took coordination between agents, staff support, volunteers, parents and campers to make it possible.
