Building the capacity of volunteer leaders within counties is critical for the sustainability of a community infrastructure that supports long term commitment to strengthen families, youth and communities. Monroe County Cooperative Extension has two volunteers who have completed the Master Clothing Volunteer program. Both of these ladies work with adults and youth to develop and build their sewing skills.   Youth and adult programs have been offered in basic sewing and machine knowledge through advanced sewing and quilting classes.   The program has grown to include three additional volunteers who are considering the Master Clothing Volunteer Program and how assist our current MCV volunteers during the programming.   Over the course of the past year, each volunteer has donated more than 100 hours teaching the basic skill of sewing to individuals in Monroe County.  During this time, the volunteers have not only strengthened their own sewing skills, but also their leadership skills and potential.
