Flocks Feud was the game show that Anna Sweets, Warren County 4-H Member, created when she entered in the National 4-H Turkey Barbeque Contest at the National 4-H Poultry Contest in Louisville in November 2019. Anna competed in the Turkey Barbeque contest where she tested her barbeque skills in a national run-off of award winning 4-H barbeque talent from around the nation. In addition to testing her barbeque skills she also had to demonstrate her knowledge of the poultry industry. Anna made use of the skills she learned in the 4-H program to create a demonstration like no other. Anna pretended she was a game show host for “Flocks Feud” a spin-off of the popular game show, Family Feud. Anna’s creativity using the popular game show theme, along with her excellent communication skills and knowledge of the poultry industry combined with her barbeque skills earned her 3rd place in the nation!
Career education in the poultry industry is important since poultry and eggs are Kentucky’s #1 agriculture commodity and also ranks 7th in the nation in broiler production. The Warren County 4-H Poultry Club does a good job educating their 4-H members about the poultry industry. At the Kentucky State Fair in August, twelve Warren County 4-H members competed in the poultry contests. Warren County earned top spots to become Junior Avian Bowl Champion Team and Senior Avian Bowl Champion Team. Warren County also had the top overall individual in the Junior Avian Bowl Contest and Junior Poultry Judging Contest. Other successes included two Warren County members competing on Kentucky’s National Avian Bowl Team and placing 7th in the nation!
Anna Sweets, the “Flocks Feud” game show host, is currently in college and has considered a career in the poultry industry.
