Planning Unit: Hickman County CES

Major Program: 4-H Family and Consumer Science Core Curriculum

Plan of Work: Improve the stability, resiliency and capability of individuals through life skill development.

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Hickman County 4-H, FCS and ANR agents collaborated with the Family Resource center for the third year to have our annual Story Walk at our new Rotary Park.  The story walk involves reading a story around the walking trail, visiting trunk or treats set up by community businesses and visiting the Farmers Market.  The agents also had hands on activities for youth engagement.

This effort brought in about 80 people and of those 57 were youth ranging in ages from 1-11.  Thirty of the youth were in school, 27 were either still at home, in preschool or daycare.

Because of this event, 36 people said they planned on attending the Farmers Market after or during the event; thirty people said that this event helped them to gain skills to use in home literacy activities and as a result of this event, 28 people said they planned on increasing time spent reading and playing with their child.
