In collaboration with the Daniel Boone Community Action Agency the Jackson County Cooperative Extension SNAP-Ed program offered a five part series of classes focusing on healthier choices, ways to reduce food cost and money management. This class consisted of various age groups from limited resource families.  Through the Nutrition Education Program’s Healthy Choices for Every Body series, participants focused on building a healthier plate, preparing easy meals that taste great and saving money on groceries. Each participant was able to participate in hands on food prep each week. At the end of this five part series, 89 percent of the participants had a positive change in their nutrition and spending habits. After completing this program the participants stated they had a better knowledge of budgeting, menu planning, utilizing coupons, and purchasing produce in season. comparing unit prices and building a healthier plate.   All participants learned how to budget more efficiently and were able to purchase and make healthier food choices for themselves and their families.
