History and Heritage is part of what makes County Fairs awesome! The County Fair is a place to exhibit hobbies and talents. At the Bourbon County Fair the spectator gets to see community members’ culinary skills, photography skills, quilting skills, floral design skills and the list goes on and on.
Bourbon County Fair exhibits have been slowly declining in numbers during the past 10 years. This year an effort was made to improve these numbers by providing more exhibit type projects closer to fair time and placing emphasis on the fact “this can be exhibited at the fair in June”.
Something worked! At the 2018 Bourbon County Fair there were 750 items entered in Exhibitor Hall and this year there were 1101 items entered! That is over 68% increase in exhibits. Increasing the numbers also increased number of spectators in the Hall. People love to bring their families and friends to see the ribbons that they received for their hobbies and talents.
The best success was one exhibitor sharing “Thank you for reminding me about exhibiting in the fair. I had forgotten how much fun it is to participate. I got a PURPLE RIBBON!!!!”
