In these times of economic downturns and depressed budgets, the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service in Warren County put a new spin on funding. As a result of the county growing at a rapid pace- outpacing other Kentucky county growth by 12.4% since 2010 and the 5th largest county in Kentucky, the Warren County Extension District Board decided a new Warren County Extension Office was needed to accommodate their growing Extension clientele with a priority of more meeting room space.  The downturn of the economy and more county funding responsibilities from the University of Kentucky created the need for creative funding opportunities to fund the 3.2 million dollar project.  Thus, a capital improvement campaign committee was started in May 2018. To date, $390,000 has been raised through the support of extension clientele, local businesses and grant funding. Donors have generously given to three funding categories: the Legacy Brick Sidewalk campaign, Giving Tree, and room sponsorships.  Our original goal of $150,000 has been more than doubled. Volunteers are the backbone of Extension and this is just another example of their support of Extension programming and its possibilities.  This reporting agent, Janet Turley, is the county extension agent advisor to the Capital Improvement Campaign Committee and has worked over a year with this committee identifying funding opportunities and donors. (Population data came from a Bowling Green Daily News Article dated May 16, 2019.)
