Christmas Project and Better Beverage Choices
There is a program in Owen County that helps to provide local families in need. With Christmas gifts for their children. To receive gifts, they are required to attend educational classes and complete 40 hours of volunteer hours. I provided the Nutrition Education classes to fulfill the educational class requirement.
During this program, families were taught about making better beverage choices and the dangers of consuming too much sugar and caffeine, using the Healthy Choices for Every Body Curriculum.
At the Beginning of the program, 100% of families reported that they drank some type of fruit juice, sports drink or sweet tea at least 1 time a day. At the end of the program 100 % of the families reported that they frank some type of 1-3 times a week OR completely cut it out altogether.
