Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Owsley County Extension Service partnered with New Hope Baptist Church to provide budgeting lessons for adults around the community. The EFNEP Assistant taught lessons on planning meals in advance, comparing prices when shopping, shopping with a grocery list, healthy food choices, proper food storing and food safety. Participants of all ages, male and female attended the program. Both group and individual needs were met by the assistant. A total of eight lessons were taught over a period of eight weeks.
All participants reported saving money, having food left at the end of the month, eating healthier and some even reported that with the different cooking methods they were using they had actually lowered their blood pressure.
