Major Program: Accessing Nutritious Foods (general)
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
The Owsley County Extension Service partnered with New Hope Baptist Church to provide ideas on how families can interact together. The EFNEP Assistant taught lessons on meal planning, cooking is healthier, knowing the limits, eating better on a budget and several other topics were covered. This class was arranged for parent and child interacting. A total of eight families participated in the program. After three months of weekly meetings the families were given a survey for feedback of the program and what they had noticed as a change in their own family. The number one change for all eight families were that their kids was spending more time in the kitchen and becoming more comfortable with cooking. The families eating habits had changed and they were saving money by preparing more home cooked meals.
Owsley County EFNEP Assistant was asked to continue the program with new families.
