DAIReXNET is a national extension-driven dairy web resource that provides science-based, peer-reviewed materials and educational opportunities for dairy producers, allied industry partners, extension educators, dairy undergraduates, and consumers.  This project illustrates what is possible when extension and research faculty, local extension educators, and allied industry professionals work together on a national basis to provide educational opportunities to our end users.

When distributing information by electronic means, determining the direct impact of those materials on an audience can be difficult.  As such, DAIReXNET's primary impact measures include page viewership, amount of time spent viewing each page, and number of times materials are shared through social and print media. During fiscal year 2017-2018, dairy resources on eXtension.org saw 636,431 pageviews, an average of 1,744 views per day. Users who visited the site spent an average of 4.17 minutes on each page. This comes out to approximately 121 hours of view time per day, and an expanded reach of 23.5 FTEs worth of time. Clearly, a number of people are finding and using these resources. Compared to 5 years ago, DAIReXNET has experienced a 2.4-fold increase in pageviews and people spend an additional 1.37 minutes viewing materials. Each year, DAIReXNET sees an increase in viewership and time spend of each page. In comparing these metrics to previous year's numbers, DAIReXNET saw a 7.92% increase in traffic, and users spent 5 seconds longer on each page than they did previously.

This project is a multistate effort. To date, contributors represent a variety of universities, extension offices, and dairy-affiliated companies from 36 different states. Many of those contributions are regularly shared and republished by extension social media accounts, dairy consultants and suppliers, and national dairy publications.
