Plan of Work: Enhance Life Skills and Workforce Development
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
For several years, the Caldwell/Lyon County Cattlemen's Association leadership envisioned the creation of a Junior Chapter—not only to encourage youth participation in cattle production and beef advocacy, but also to cultivate the next generation of leaders within their organization. That vision became a reality when Caldwell resident Whitney Peck (KCA Jr. Cattlemen's President) took the initiative to establish the Caldwell/Lyon County Junior Cattlemen's Association. With the help of Extension and the executive committee of the Caldwell/Lyon Cattlemen's Association as additional advisors, the group successfully recruited over 20 enthusiastic founding members. Together, they launched the Jr. Association with a variety of fun and educational events designed to engage youth, foster their interest in agriculture, and support the scholarship program that many had taken advantage of already Now in its second year, the chapter continues to grow and thrive and add value and leadership to the community.
