Major Program: Ag Marketing

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Several years ago, a need was identified to provide educational programming for agricultural lenders as they operate within the dynamic agricultural environment.  Given current profitability challenges, this need has only increased in recent years.  The University of Kentucky Department of Agricultural Economics has developed and delivered an educational program for agricultural lenders.  Programming is delivered by extension faculty and farm business analysis specialists in the Agricultural Economics Department.  The programs are promoted by county extension agents and Farm Business Analysis specialists in each location.  By working through these groups, lender’s trainings were offered in Lexington, Owensboro, Hopkinsville, and Mayfield during the winter of 2017 / 2018.  A total of 177 individuals attended one of the programs in the four locations.  Program topics include the ag macro-economy, policy, trade, livestock, grain, tobacco, and horticulture.  This program has been on-going for several years and continues to grow.
