Plan of Work: Leadership Enhancement and Community Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Farms are an essential part of Bath County and Kentucky's economy. In an effort to promote agriculture, local farms, and producers within the county, Bath County Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences agent, along with the 4H agent host the first annual Farm to Table Dinner. This dinner was hosted on the last night of the agriculture fair. This was a 3 course meal that was done by a local caterer, with a menu that was created to show case in season produce that people can buy at their local farmers market. In attendance, a state FFA officer did an opening speech, followed by the county state representative and the county State Senator representative. A local farmer who has been with the Bath County Farmers market since the very beginning, shared his story on why he started working with the farmers market, how he has grown his farm and continues to work with the farmers market. The dinner sold out at 75 seats, which included local business, churches, and community members. Verbal feedback was received during the entirety of the event, with praises on how well the evening was planned. There are plans to continue this event for years to come, and with hopes of increasing the attendance to closer to 100 for 2026.
