Major Program: Accessing Nutritious Foods (general)
Plan of Work: Improving Nutrition
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
For several years, the major source of income for the Elliott County Farmers' Market was the Senior Farmer Market Nutrition Program vouchers. Through building a facebook page for the market, advertising on radio, in the Elliott County News, doing on site food demonstrations, and helping vendors display their produce, the market increased the amount of cash receipts. The amount of cash income was more than the income from SFMNP vouchers. This indicates the market is moving toward sustainability if the state program (SFMNP) should be cut from the state budget.
