Outcome: Initial Outcome
Extension Master Gardener volunteers are a vital part of the Boyd County Extension Horticulture program. There are many requests for horticulture and gardening programs throughout the county and the horticulture agent is not able to respond to all the requests for activities and events that come into the office. The Master Gardeners are trained with scientifically proven information and are willing to help the agent meet the needs for all these requests. When they join the Master Gardener program, they are asked to identify what their strengths are in regard to program presentations, teaching youth, general gardening activities, etc. This year the Master Gardener volunteers were able to help reach 3500 plus visitors to the Master Gardener informational booth at the local Home and Garden show to answer their gardening questions and handout timely gardening information. There were a total of 20 volunteers from Boyd County who worked with the Cabell County WV Master Gardeners over the 3 day weekend.
