Paper Trails Scrabooking Workshop

Author: Asya Jarrell

Planning Unit: Martin County CES

Major Program: Artistic & Essential Skill Development

Plan of Work: Attaining Skills For a Productive Adulthood

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

In the current fast paced and digital world we live in, many individuals lack creative outlets that promote self-expression, reduce stress, and encourage connection.

“Paper Trails” is a monthly scrapbooking workshop that blends creativity, mindfulness, and storytelling through memories. Using techniques like collage, mixed media, and journaling, it helps participants express personal stories while building artistic skills and community.

We have partnered with the 21st Century afterschool program at Martin County Middle School to allow the students in their program the opportunity to participate to make a MCMS Memory Book. Their focus is on "junk journaling" which is a form of mixed media specific art.

The program attracts a diverse group of adults and youth, ranging from beginners to confident creators. Participants have reported reduced stress, increased creativity, and a strong sense of connection with others.
