Outcome: Initial Outcome
As middle school 8th grade students progress into a better understanding of society the necessity for learning money management grows alongside it. To help implement this I have worked with teachers at Mason County Middle school to help provide programing to help students learn and prepare for reality store. At the end of the program students participate in reality store visiting booths attended by local businesses and volunteers for the various expenses that may be encountered in life i.e.. housing, insurance, grocery, etc. This programs approach helps students understand the need to prioritize monthly income and opens their eyes to the true value of some expenses. After the completion of this years program we held a follow up meeting to discuss how to improve program implementation and provide a progressive experience. We concluded that for next years program we will implement a simplified level at 6th, conduct reality store as in is currently done at 7th grade and then for the 8th grade encourage research into career fields they are interested in to provide a better understanding on that fields viability to there goals.
