Planning Unit: Graves County CES
Major Program: Leadership
Plan of Work: Developing Youth and Adult Leaders in the Community
Outcome: Initial Outcome
Describe the Issue or Situation. In the 2024 Community Needs Assessment, the top priority issue within Graves County was Youth life skill development opportunities such as leadership and communication skills. Northside Baptist Christian School is heavily involved in 4-H. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders meet as separate 4-H Clubs monthly to practice teamwork skills and leadership skills in a variety of activities streaming across different 4-H core areas.
Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response (and Partners, if applicable). The hope of 4-H School Clubs is for youth to gain more confident in themselves as well as well as work on their developing leadership and teamwork skills. Another hope from this program is that youth learn more about 4-H and they get involved in other 4-H Programs. We worked with the soil conservation district for two different lessons: one on agriculture and one on watersheds.
Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience. There were 47 youth involved (23 females, 24 males) and 3 volunteers (all female).
Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact. Please note that the outcomes statement must use evaluation data to describe the change(s) that occurred in individuals, groups, families, businesses, or in the community because of the program/outreach.
100% of the youth said they learned more about 4-H, and 61% of them said they would like to get more involved in other 4-H programs. 92% of the audience said that they learned more about their teamwork and leadership skills. Multiple youth have said that they are excited to get involved into more specific programs such as 4-H Camp, robotics, and poultry clubs. These leaderships and teamwork skills that the youth are developing will help them in the future of their 4-H careers as well as through their lifetime.
