4-H Yoga for Kids is a fun and noncompetitive way to be physically active. It supports the goal of equipping youth and families to achieve optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being. Yoga helps improve children's physical fitness by increasing strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity.

The Campbell County Extension District Board approved funding to purchase yoga mats, water bottles, t-shirts, and other supplies necessary to provide a Yoga for Kids program.  To introduce the program, 4-H staff provided a mini Yoga for Kids workshop at the Extension Service Community Celebration day on Saturday, June 23.  Children at the celebration could stop by the Yoga for Kids booth, spin the wheel, and learn how to properly do a yoga pose. They then completed a short evaluation which put their name in for a drawing of a yoga gift basket.

Evaluation results showed that 24 youth completed the yoga poses that day. 80% said they would show yoga poses to their friends and family. 100% think that yoga helps them to relax.

Other Yoga for Kids programs will be implemented, including summer camp programs, day camps, 4-H camp, and teen club meetings.
