This past August, Franklin County proudly celebrated a significant achievement at the Kentucky State Fair. A talented student from our county was awarded the Grand Champion title in the county ham contest, showcasing their exceptional skills and dedication to the art of ham curing.

The student participated in Franklin County's thriving ham program, which has been instrumental in teaching youth the traditional methods of curing and processing hams. Through hands-on workshops and expert guidance, the program provides participants with a deep understanding of the entire curing process, from selecting the right hams to the intricacies of seasoning and aging.

Winning the Grand Champion title is a testament to the student's hard work and the quality of education provided by Franklin County's ham program. This achievement highlights the impact of practical agricultural education and the importance of preserving traditional skills. It also serves as an inspiration to other students, demonstrating the rewards of dedication and craftsmanship.

The success of our student at the state fair underscores the growing excellence of Franklin County's ham program. As more youth engage in these enriching activities, the program continues to foster a sense of pride and accomplishment, ensuring that the heritage of ham curing remains vibrant and celebrated in our community
